This Black Friday we’re closing our stores, because on this Black Friday we think a woman’s place should be in the outdoors!
You see, at my house, post-Thanksgiving goes something like this: the dishes are done, turkey soup is on the stove and a deep sense of contentment settles in alongside a deep exhaustion.
Yep, even in the “Year of the Woman” the vast majority of the work that goes into Thanksgiving is done by mothers and daughters, grandmas and nieces, sisters and aunts. In short, for most women, Thanksgiving isn’t a vacation day.
So this year, here at T9, we’ve decided to make Black Friday a mom’s day off…a day off from minding the register, a day off from tracking sales, a day off from crafting creative, and making merchandise, and a day off from shopping!!!
We hope you, along with all the women in your life, will join us in getting outside on Black Friday.
You’ve earned it. I think we all have.

I have loved yor business from the first days of online. I am a regular shopper and sometimes look like an ad for the store. Thank you for closing up and taking it outside!. I spent 15 years in retail and in the 20+ years of being gone I have not stepped foot in a store on black Friday. The day brings out the worst in people. Nature bring out the best! See ya on the trails.
Bravo!
OUTSTANDING! I am impressed that you have the compassion, courage and conviction to place your employees’ quality of life before the retail machine that is Black Friday. I know this is a big decision for a retailer. Allowing your employees to get outside (likely decked out in their Title Nine gear!) shows Title Nine is putting their money (literally) where their mouth is. Kudos to you! I’m going out for a run and when I get back, I’m going online to place an order. OUTSTANDING!
Thanks Ann! Hope you had a great run and a successful shopping experience!
Love this idea!!
Dear Missy,
What an awesome letter and so true. That you for recognizing the work women put into this holiday and that we do, indeed, need a day of rest.
I find it interesting that when I requested Black Friday off from my job, my boss asked me if I was doing any BF shopping. I told him no, I will be recuperating and trying to rejuvenate from all the stress of planning shopping cooking catering and cleanup that went on the day before!
I just returned from a nice nature walk and now I am drawing a nice herbal bath to relish in.
Cheers!

Sounds like the perfect day!
You Rock Missy! And all the ladies at Title Nine! God Bless you and your awesome clothing!!
Best decision you could ever make! Thank you for closing and recognizing that women do most of the work on Thanksgiving. Even though we love to do things for our family it is exhausting. Have a wonderful and fun filled day OUTSIDE!
Way to go Missy. The Team is lucky to be part of the women’s day off. Hope you enjoyed. I won’t be joining in the trend on Black Friday, but thinking of making my own day in the year. 🙂
Great idea!
Thank You! Time to spend outdoors, with family, having fun. We are doing a cross crow try road trip this weekend. Michigan to Oregon with a stop in Utah!
Good for you and your great company!
Thanks Shirley!
