The team at Title Nine has many players — and many coaches. Our own athletic and personal lives have been shaped and influenced by coaches we’ve had, making the decision to embark on the same path an important one. We look up to those who lead the way for us: it’s time for us to lead the way for the next generation.
Do YOU coach? Tell us why below.
I’ve coached multiple sports and multiple age levels over the years and have found coaching to be the best way to connect and inspire young adults. Currently, I am coaching a high school Special Olympics program where we compete in bowling, basketball, soccer, and track and field. My husband and I also recently started a Project UNIFY team through Special Olympics where students with and without disabilities compete on the field/court together in flag football, basketball, and soccer throughout the year. This has been an amazing experience to see students come together, make friends, and inspire each other to work and play harder! Our team took home the gold medal at the state basketball tournament a few months ago and was awarded the Project UNIFY school of the year and will be inducted into the Special Olympics Hall of Fame in October! This summer, I will be biking across America and building houses with Habitat for Humanity in order to continue to inspire young adults through physical activity and athletics.
