Our road-trip ready companions, our most trusted confidants, our ever-encouraging “let’s go outside – and get muddy!” buddies, we don’t know where we would be without our wiggly, panting best friends. On location, our animal extras often end up stealing the show! Want to meet some of ours? Check out our gallery here.
Now, it’s YOUR turn to share your critter companions. Tell us below: who’s your best friend, and what do they mean to you? Don’t be shy about sharing pictures!
On March 7’th, at around 2:30 in the morning, I awoke to my house filled with smoke and fire alarms beeping. I ran out of my room to see flames leaping from the kitchen and quickly grabbed my two children and ran them out of the house, then let my dogs out of the back room they stay in. To my horror I realized my husband’s car was in the driveway (he was supposed to stay the night with friends) and when I ran back to find him the fire was too bad to go in. In the next 40 minutes, while I waited for the firemen to arrive and pull him out, I had to stay calm to keep my five year old son from being scared. The only thing that got me through that night was my Wolfhound, Riddick, who pressed himself up against me and didn’t leave my side until I had to follow my husband to the hospital. In the weeks following the fire Riddick has slept by my bed and been my rock while I waited for my husband to leave the hospital and dealt with all of the chaos that comes from losing your home. I thank god every day my husband made it out alive and has recovered. I also thank him for giving my a dog that stayed by my side through the worst night of my life, and who continues to keep me sane every day.
WOW awesome story. Main thing you were all safe!
Much blessings,
Martha B.
Gabi is Pomeranian/English Springer/Shiba Inu mix. She loves going with me on walks, hikes and discovering knew landscapes. We desperately seek leash-free zones where she can run and swim and roll in the scent of Mother Nature. She seldom rolls in the stinky stuff. But she is my “partner in grime” and showers me with gratitude for every effort we make to go out and get close to Mother Nature. Gabi is 4 years and I am 59.
My lovely, lovely Shepherd-Husky mix is 10 years old; and I am still reveling in her second lease on life, granted almost 2 years ago. A bizzare autoimmune disorder took away her ability to walk and nearly her life, but with much prayer and expert veterinary care she is enjoying her golden years with me and my husband. Walks are still her favorite – next to breakfast, and supper, and the park, and nummies….What 70 year-old lady still looks this good??
Our two whippet boys. We adopted them when they were just over a year old. A family were getting rid of them when their 3rd baby was coming. We have had greyhounds so figured “hey, why not, how different can they be to greyhounds.” Completely different is the answer. They’re little hooligans, high energy, but super snuggly when it’s time to cuddle. They’re sweet, good boys. /Users/elainemiller/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Masters/2014/05/17/20140517-120317/Image.jpg
Not one pic of a cat or other pet?? My three cats are awesome. They may not jog with me but they are there to provide unconditional support and supervision through all activities.
We have some shots of chickens from photo shoots, and a very friendly goat, but no cats in our catalog archive. If you’d like to share your three purrballs, we’d love to see them!

Chase is my 4 year old rescue German Shepherd Dog. He was surrendered by his owner at nine months old and lived in a rescue specializing in German Shepherds for nine more months before he found his way into my life. He is my protector, my shadow, my running partner and my co-pilot.
I didn’t have the opportunity to have children so he is definitely my baby, all be it a furry one. He loves kids and is eager to meet everyone on our walks. As they say, “Who rescued who?”
My Dutch Shepherd rescue brothers may have flunked out of k9 school, but they aced Therapy Dog certification and Adorable 101. They’ve been with me for six years as my cross-country travel companions, co-workers, nap buddies, and best friends. Recently Remo lost a leg to cancer but never lost his sass. There has been not one bad morning in six years when I get to wake up to these faces. They are my heart.
My fabulous rescue mutt is a pivotal part of my workout program in that he wants to take naps all the time! He’d seriously would rather have a nap than a treat (except bacon of course!) He has the coolest mohawk and tendrils of hair that flow down his ears like a bobcat. He’s my constant companion during muscle recovery–and bacon eating…
Paxton is my 4 year old mini-aussie. He comes to work with me everyday and is truly a therapy dog for anyone in need of a kiss or a hug! He is also my running buddy, never tiring and always ready to go. His favorite games are fetch with tennis ball where he is trained to put the ball back into my hand, and “soccer” where he bats around his larger hard plastic ball.
My biking buddy is my 7 year old standard poodle. He is always game to go out to the park for some trail riding. On the road, I have him on a leash, but in the woods, he runs free. He has learned to stay close to my bike – but not too close (yes I have run into him by accident). And then there was the time he took off after a squirrel and pulled me and the bike along with him. He is so much fun, so eager, never tires, always up for an adventure! I love him so much.
