Our road-trip ready companions, our most trusted confidants, our ever-encouraging “let’s go outside – and get muddy!” buddies, we don’t know where we would be without our wiggly, panting best friends. On location, our animal extras often end up stealing the show! Want to meet some of ours? Check out our gallery here.
Now, it’s YOUR turn to share your critter companions. Tell us below: who’s your best friend, and what do they mean to you? Don’t be shy about sharing pictures!
Franklin is my trail-running, sheep herding, volunteering at the women’s shelter partner…And he is only 16 months old (Australian Cattle Dog). He is real, down-to-earth, gorgeous and funny. Love my four-footed partner!
I have a 10 year old chow-retriever mix named Clifford. He is often referred to as my furry four-legged son or my 16 year old daughter’s little brother.
Clifford wandered up one day nine and a half years ago, and he’s been mine ever since. I think he was a dumpster puppy. There were two I saw at the dumpster down the street that winter; a blonde and a black. I think Cliffie was the blonde who survived.
Clifford saved my life – emotionally. It’s been a long road, but we’ve made it together along with my 16 year old daughter.
My four legged BFF is named Charley! He is a Westy Terrier mix. We found him all alone in the middle of a country road about a mile from the elementary school where I work. The principal thought I had lost my mind when I slammed on my breaks, got out of my car and picked him up! I thought for sure he belonged to someone and was lost. Lucky for us, he was abandoned and he soon became the school dog! He goes to school with me every day! He listens to students read their stories, thumps his tail when they are sad, goes on walks with them when they need a special friend. Even the teachers have grown fond of Charley. Whenever someone needs a smile, they stop by the Media Center for a bundle of happiness!! This year he became an official member of our staff and even got his school picture taken just like the rest of us. He has also been my steady companion as I finished my Dissertation. Each day when I went to my “She Cave” to write, Charley faithfully followed me and waited patiently by my side as I wrote and wrote some more. He was my inspiration! I would work a while so we could run outside on the trails behind my house. I could not have finished without his loving support! We love our Charley!!
My bestie I’d Don Angelo, a 5+ lb smooth coat Brussels Griffon. He loves doing agility training and after I get & heal from hip surgery we WILL compete! We have done a bunch of training and he even has his Canine Good Citizen certification. Over the time we have been together (2 yrs) Gello as we call him, is now my Service Dog. He alerts me to my life hi-jacking migraines before they come on and stays with me for endless hours until I can function. He was a gift from the breeder a dear friend whom I’m forever in-debt. I say Don Angelo is the best 5 lbs I have ever gained.,

Always ready, even for a canoe trip.
I have a one year old miniature poodle mix named Coco Pop. She is full of fun and love! Long walks and playing with other doggies are her most favorite things ever. She is my best friend! I don’t know how to attach photos here, but you can see pictures of her on her own Instagram account: @littlecocopop!
My Charlie dog is the most amazing pup. He was abandoned at at two years old and we adopted him as soon as I saw his picture. Ever since he has been my copilot everything outdoors! He loves to swim, hike and play ball. His funny face and a tail that can clear a table are truly his own. This dog has given me some of the best experiences and I have him to thank for kick starting my healthy lifestyle. I love my Charlie Head!
My Daphne is the best running dog ever! We’ve paired up with another female trail running person-dog combo and they love their Saturday morning long runs.
My best friend is Phoebe, a 4 yo wire haired pointing griffon. She was supposed to be my husband’s hunting dog, but about 5 months after we got her he became very ill and ended up dying at age 43. In the almost 3 yrs since that horrible day, she has been my constant companion and best snuggler and has kept me going when it was really difficult to do so. We hike every weekend and are about to embark on our biggest adventure yet – moving from PA to AK and driving the whole way. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead. She truly makes it all worthwhile.
Steve is my four legged best friend. He is the best from snuggles to long walks in the park. His greetings at th door make the toughest days better, but our favorite times are long summer days at the lake.
