Our road-trip ready companions, our most trusted confidants, our ever-encouraging “let’s go outside – and get muddy!” buddies, we don’t know where we would be without our wiggly, panting best friends. On location, our animal extras often end up stealing the show! Want to meet some of ours? Check out our gallery here.
Now, it’s YOUR turn to share your critter companions. Tell us below: who’s your best friend, and what do they mean to you? Don’t be shy about sharing pictures!
I have 3 dogs, but there’s always one that bonds more. When one of my dogs (Missy) passed away, I was empty. But then I adopted Ricky, a stray from Puerto Rico, shy, scared Ricky. We bonded like I’ve never really bonded with a dog, and he brought me back from such sadness. He’s the happiest dog I know, and loves to cuddle. He’ll run and romp anywhere, under any conditions. A fantastic companion. Recently I took a bad fall skiing and strained my thigh pretty hard. With one more race left I needed to rest, ice, and compress. So I got an ice pack, laid on the couch, and Ricky (all 45 pounds of him) laid on top of the ice pack, providing much needed compression. I adore this little mutt. He always knows what I need to feel better!
I have two dogs, an 11 year old Belgian shepherd and a 6 year old beagle mix. I keep trying to get them to run with me, but every time I move beyond a brisk walk, the little dog gets so excited that he has to bite the big dog’s head and legs, and hilarity ensues! So far no one has been hurt, but I have almost wet my pants from laughing so hard. The big dog just shakes her head and bites right back. They are such wonderfully silly friends! The little dog has a bum hip and loves to do down dog practice with me when I’m doing yoga. Big dog just hangs out in corpse pose.
We have two 4 legged furry companions that brighten our life!
Our 9 year old pug, Simon has been our camping, hiking and most importantly, cuddle buddy over the years. He has so much personality and has been such a great companion, that we’ve had friends buy pugs after meeting and playing with him.
Our other, new family member is Rudy, our 10 month old Australian Shepherd. He is a spirited and goofy companion who loves to play (of course) and we are working with him to be a running buddy for me.
We wouldn’t trade these cuties for anything!
Jazzy eagerly goes to work with me out in the nursery fields everyday, rain or shine, and she never complains. Jazzy has saved my life on more than one occassion and I literally couldn’t live without her. She can alert me when my blood sugar drops too low as I have type 1 diabetes. She has been with me for 5 years and has seen me through a devastating divorce, always faithful, never judging and loving me regardless. She is my companion and my soul-dog, my forever friend.
Lucy is my best friend. She’s a four-year-old yellow lab and is my #1 running buddy. Her favorite thing in the world is being with us – camping, boating, hiking, or just hanging in the car while we ski. Our last run was Christmas Eve before I broke my ankle. Lucy has literally been by my side, day and night, while I’ve been on the road to recovery. I’m just beginning to walk, but I’m able to workout on an exercise bike…with Lucy spotting me every step of the way. I don’t know what I’d do without her. Lucy is the best!
Indee is the softest, sweetest yellow lab. She was a rescue, put in prison as part of a rehabilitation program ( for the inmates) and then adopted by us! Most days I speak to her more than any human! We had a platform built 16 feet up, in a big old tree. She leads up the stairs and we enjoy the view and solitude together. Unconditional love is her MO!
My Kerri Berri (KERRIGAN) is the most awesome sleeping buddy, running buddy, kayaking buddy, snowmobiling buddy, basketball guard buddy, short stop buddy…she runs the gambit! Last year’s diagnosis with acute renal failure has not slowed down this huge white bundle of Labrador love! Whether it is snuggles on a lazy morning or that confident wag of “you can do it mamma” that I get when I just can’t take one more step on a long trail run…she is always there for me! She is, in short, a great baby sitter to 4 boys ages 9-19, a wonderful couch companion for tired souls home from a long day at work, and faithful 70lbs of shoulder to cry on for those “not so great” days…she definitely dances to the beat of her own drum (up on hind legs of course), and adores her life friends, a vertically challenged and over fed corgi and stand-offish-snob of a weenie dog (Colt and Orakpo), to no end! She is what gets me up in the morning…and reminds me with her tired little black eyes that…”…it’s ready to go to bed now Mamma…” at the end of each day.
Cooper is the best! He arrived as a puppy three summers ago and people always commented that he was my replacement child, I didn’t believe it was true at the time but indeed he is. I am a single mom and my son went off to his freshman year of college this past fall, without Cooper the loneliness would have been unbearable. He is my favorite walking partner and snuggler!
Whenever I do yoga in the bedroom, I have a towel monitor. Her name is Andy.
Can a Cat participate? I have an awesome cat-that will rodeo dogs out of our yard-on command! To be continued?? The adventures of Igmu…….
Of course! We only had images with dogs (and some goats) on hand, but please feel free to share your herding cat.
