I would love to see some better selections in the pants and shorts arena that are more flattering to those of us wirh a bootilicious backside. The “relaxed” styles these days fit, but they are not doing us justice!! Bring back some wider pant legs!!!
Would LOVE to see all those sizes of booty featured in your ads!
I got my muscular calves and “big” thighs by being lucky enough to have lots of activity as a kid, ballet gymnastics, swimming, and walking everywhere. Now that I’m in my 50s and hiking up mountains I’m still grateful. They’ve never let me down. Yeah, I’d like to see some older, less perfectly toned models in your catalog too!
I’ve always been happy with my thighs. I ran many marathons, and have done hundreds of triathlons. One time in the middle of a run, I ran into my dad’s office, just to say hello. He had a client with him, and instead of acting embarrassed or irritated, he said to the guy, “Just touch her thigh…..it’s like a rock!” My dad was always my biggest athletic supporter, and I miss him every day.
On my 60th birthday my sturdy thighs and butt took me for 3 hours of snorkling. It was wonderful and I thank them for the strong kicks, the dives and jumps off the boat. Celebrate the thighs not the size!!
Like Jessica I also used to hate my thighs. I’ve always thought they were too big/fat, they have veins you can see that drive me crazy, but in the past couple of years I’ve stopped caring. They have done me right all these years and I’ve not appreciated them like I should. They’ve helped me carry two kids, biked from San Francisco to LA 5 times, run several 1/2 marathons and helped me through Jazzercise. How can I not like those thighs?! With all that said, it sure would be awesome to see some actual “thunder thighs” in those Title 9 photos. I know that studies say more people will buy your clothes if you have the smaller younger models but it would be nice for you to go out on a limb and post a few bigger women, women of different ages and colors. Let’s see who supports you then? I bet a lot of us would.
As my mom used to say, “You were built to handle any emergency.” My butt and thighs are strong enough to haul a 38-lb. backpack (including bear vault) to over 11,000 foot campsites. I’m a “weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down”-type of gal and darn proud of it. I had to grow into this acceptance but I did and am much happier for it. I try to pass this acceptance along to my young nieces. Yeah for strong bodies!!!!
Passing on this acceptance to your nieces is a great gift. How could they not want to be just like their awesome aunt. 11,000 feet is a long way up to haul a backpack!
I love that you want to celebrate big back sides and thighs; now let’s see those kind of women in your catalogs! I love Title Nine but would love to see a more “diversity” of body types modeling your clothing. It’s one thing to profess acceptance, it’s another to represent real women and you’ve the power to do that. Are YOU up for the challenge, Title Nine?
I agree
I agree with Francelia! And along with women of different shapes and colors, I’d like your clothes to also fit long, tall gals! Rarely is there an inseam longer than 32″ in your pants offerings… that will just not do for a woman 5’10” or above… and if we’re truly celebrating women athletes and not just model-material athletes, are not many woman athletes taller than the US average of 5’4″? Basketball players, rowers, volleyball players, track athletes, etc. We’re out here and looking for longer sleeves and longer hemlines (36″ on a dress is too short for us!) and long, tall pants- 34″ or more! You are losing business to Athleta and other companies that realize that many woman athletes are tall and these companies honor them by offering tall sizes! Please don’t neglect the athlete that comes in a different package. Thanks for pondering this!
I was born with substantial thighs and my calves were mauled by a dog as a youngster. I used to
hate my legs but have grown to love them as they have never let me down, whether an 8 hour hike
through the jungle or a century ride. Whenever I question some of the challenges I take on, I look
at my legs and am inspired by them because they just keep going no matter what:).
An eight hour hike through the jungle? That sounds like an amazing adventure. Thank you for sharing your backside love!
I used to HATE my thighs. They won’t fit in skinny jeans, they don’t work in short-shorts, and yes, I will admit, they rub together in skirts. BUT, my thighs are strong enough to run marathons. They’ve helped me push two kids in a jogging stroller for 11 miles. And without these “thunder-thighs” I would not have been able to move my body through 140.6 miles of my first Ironman. So now, when I try on those skinny jeans and I can’t get them passed my knees, I try to celebrate, instead of beat myself up. My thighs have a more important job than getting in to skinny jeans, they are powering me through my active life.
