They’re good, right? Well, somewhere along the way, I walked into a life with too many choices. The trouble with choice became clear on a recent trip with my kids to the toy store. What should have been a fun trip to pick out a new toy, became an exercise that ended in tears of frustration because of all the toys we would not be bringing home. At the end of that trip, my daughter observed, “Maybe next time, you should just bring a toy home to us.” Hmmmm, perhaps there’s something I can learn from that.
From the weighty: Stay at home or work full-time or part-time or every-other-day-time or, or, or. To the lightweight: Low-fat, nonfat, full-fat, half-caf, de-caf, full-caf. Yes, choices abound, but just like my kids in the toy store, each choice can become tainted by what it is not, by what I will give up when/if I make a decision.
So my strategy of late has been to eliminate or just plain ignore choices. On matters both big and small, I have less invested in making the perfect choice, the decisions come more easily, and surprisingly, I’m often happier with the results.
The choice is ours,

I must be just right, then. I love the pants and skorts. They’re perfect for my 5’7″ height.
I wanted to put in a plug for petite sizes! I can’t wear your pants (and most of the skorts) because they are too long! while I’m at it, let me say thanks for the most comfortable bras I have ever owned!
Darlene, I hear ya. My college basketball teammates are all hollering at me on a monthly basis too. And it’s made a difference. We now offer the the Go Pant and the Not-so-tight fitness pant in longs.
This fall we’ll add the Diana, a woven pant, and the Eureka, a winter-weight training pant. Alas, they will all be 33″ inseams. Still and all, the Eureka may well work for you as it has ankles zips and tapers to hit at the ankle bone.
We WILL be doing more. So thanks for writing.
On the other hand, women of a certain height don’t have much choice when it comes to choosing pants for working out because they’re all too short in your catalog. Just one or two pairs, a small size run of say 500 pieces in a longer length. Now I know why I always wanted to live in places where long athletic pants weren’t needed — because I could never find any to fit me. Slim with a 35″ inseam just isn’t what’s on the racks. Endless rounders of 32″ pants abound.
When I finally did start running, I had to look on the men’s racks and thank goodness they were stretchy. I’m still wearing running tights from 10 years ago because they’re long enough, and don’t even talk to me about sweats. Unless I pay $10 extra at the Tall Girl store, I’m stuck with pants around my ankles that fit well, or baggies that float 6″ below my crotch. ACK!
Please, Missy, for all tall athletic women everywhere, just one style in a longer length? Pleeeeaaaaassseeee!
