This New Year I’m gonna dispense with the resolutions, the commitments, the planning, the idle chatter.
Let’s just start, begin, commence, break ground, establish, impel, kindle, undertake, take the plunge, initiate, instigate (ooh, I like that one), launch, actuate, pioneer, sally forth, get the ball rolling, cause, do, create, introduce, originate, activate, go ahead, inaugurate, light out, trigger, mobilize, spark.
It’s a clean slate. How will you start?

I have a goal that has been with me for too long, and I am NOT going to sit on it any longer! In my 60th year (I will be 59 in June) I plan to ride a horse in a 100 mile in one day Competitive Trail Ride. I’m not sure how everything necessary will come about on a shoe string budget, but I am starting by finding a suitable horse (my guy is 21 and semi retired). I am completing the applications/references to adopt a retired Thoroughbred racehorse (still young and sound) as well as getting the word out with horse friends and Horse Rescues.
Meanwhile I will join Trail Riding groups and find others who may need support and help on their racing teams.
Thank you so much Title nine for your encouragement and commitment to helping women be and stay strong!
Missy Park: you have no idea how your catalog has inspired me. I don’t know if you remember, but I was the woman that gave you a big hug in downtown Denver years ago. I wanted to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the image you put forth about women every time you publish a catalog. I have passed them around and told other women – look at this! Your catalogs image of women has lit my world. The sporty, tough attitude. The idea of strong women, translated to the reality of the FACT that we are strong, beautiful, capable: I could go on. I relish seeing every new catalog. I love what you promote. I am so grateful for what you do. Thanks again. This is my start to continuing this year strong, capable and grateful. Best wishes to you.
LB-
You made my day! What you wrote is exactly how I would want someone to describe us. I can have my doubts about whether we are really succeeding or not. I often only notice the times when we miss the mark, so thank you, thank you, thank you for letting me know that we are still on the right track.
Your magazine always inspires me to work harder at playtime and it was great to see a girl skateboarding this month!
I will take my second long distance bike tour
I will finish or almost, finally finish my book
I wil become more confident in my Zumba teaching
I will spoil my 10 year old dog rotten beyond belief.
There:)
I’ve cut out and taped the inside front cover of your latest catalog to my bathroom mirror. Those words will be a daily reminder and motivator for me to take charge. I’m good at listening, validating, cheerleading, encouraging and motivating other people–everyone except myself. By simply writing this comment, I’ve already started. Stepped out of my usual “should do / could do” and DONE it…today!
Yesterday I singed up for my first 5k run!!! I’m excited and looking forward to figuring out how to train with my 3 yr old helper.
