RIGHT ON, Missy!!!
I needed that word of encouragement! I’m sick to death of apologizing for being the unique person that I am! I will never be one of the herd! There is nothing wrong with being over fifty, athletic as hell, beautiful, and confident! Rock it ladies and stop your whining!
To all our detractors, “shut up and get out of the way”!
I’m going to stop apologizing for having to leave an event early….so I can get to bed for an early morning run. I’m going to stop apologizing for having water instead of an adult beverage….so I am ready for my run the next day. I’m going to stop apologizing for not having a burger and fries like everyone else….so I can fuel my body in a healthy way! And I’m going to celebrate a healthy and active me by running the Zion National half marathon in March 2016 with my 3 sons for my 60th birthday! I, too, echo the comments about older models and clothing options. I REFUSE to act my age!!! 🙂
Yes to older models! I just turned 55 and am fitter than ever! I am super strong and do olympic weight lifting, which is a CrossFit like workout. I am 5’5′ and 147 lbs and usually wear a large on top (34E, thought I was a 38C till I had a bra fitting!!!)and a medium on the bottom. I look really good! I love your dresses the most. I just love your catalog so please put “one of us” in there! That’s the only negative criticism that I have. I never ever buy Athleta anymore. Their quality went way down when they were bought out. You gals are the bomb!!!!
Absolutely. I just turned 40 in July and I really think that there needs to be greater representation within the age ranges for T9 models. Not all of us are in our 20s-30s or are built straight up and down. As mentioned by Susan and Sue, active individuals span all age ranges and I want to add, all body types. I hike, mtn bike, road bike, gravel grind, do yoga, SUP, kayak, and camp. I’m 5’2 and 140. I’m strong and curvy, and that is perfect for me. Show women of all types who are active. I promise we will only love your mission and your products even more for respecting us enough to move away for the pure athlete models and the fashion runway stereotypes. Real people who are active want clothes that will fit real bodies.
Wow. I love reading all these comments about active women in their 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, and beyond. What an amazing group. At Title Nine we are proud that our “models” are not models at all, but business owners, moms, teachers, scientists; balancing work, fitness, family, and life – like we all are. We photograph these women in their element, doing the activities they love. As far as we know, there is no other apparel company doing what we do. And this year we have committed to expanding our presence on social media. With this comes the opportunity to better highlight all of you -our customers- doing all the amazing things you’ve told us about. So get out there, take photos of yourselves camping, kayaking, SUP boarding, hiking, and lifting in your T9 gear. Tag them #myT9 and post them to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter (or send them to us and we’ll post them for you via socialmedia@titlenine.com). We’d love to help you show off how awesome you are at every age.
A huge second to comment by Sue Daugherty! Many older women are returning to regular gym and workout activities, or embracing fitness for the first time. Healthy models of all ages and shapes would be a great encouragement. Might I also suggest work-out clothing options for those with some mobility issues, and options like attached inner panties on yoga pants, etc. Trust me, there is a market for the older crowd. As a fit 60 year old, I find that just because I can wear tighter, more revealing work-out wear, doesn’t mean I should:-)I love Title Nine, but I could love it even more…Thanks!
Ditto on what Sue D said above. We women in our 50s, 60s and 70s (and beyond) are active and beautiful too! Give us space in our pages. I live in Salida, Colorado, in the Southern Rockies, and I run ten miles a week, walk, hike, bike, kayak, raft, and camp on my own (I’m a widow, 58 and almost 59). I’m about to learn SUP boarding too! I also restore nature in urban places–I’m one of the founders of the Monarch Spur Trail Restoration Project, a stream-and-trail restoration project on our town’s nine miles of community trails. Give we older active women a role in your catalogs too!
Your Julie Child comment is all about me. My coworker has even told me I need to stop apologizing for every single thing in the world. The words fly out of my mouth before I even think about it or know it. Very interesting about Julie Child by the way. Thanks!!!
Hi,
I am a very active 67 yr old. I completed a half marathon this year with my daughter. My problem is I’m a petite women. If you go into the petite department in the mall the clothes start with ELASTIC !!!! It’s like looking at my grandmothers wardrobe. We, “babyboomers” dress younger then our mothers. Please create something for us. We can no longer wear bikini’s , short shorts, and tank tops reveal our crepe paper arms. We need help! I have no place to shop! Thank you Jill Maisonneuve
I want to start designing athletic wear for larger women! New company. Interested?
Missy, Hi I live in Colorado Springs and have been a huge fan of your line of clothing for a long time. I am a very active 59 year old woman and would love to have a conversation with someone about your models. I love all of your choices but would you ever consider hiring woman in the 60 to 70 age range? I think the job looks fantastic and think it would be great to have some older woman also be able to show your clothes off… Just a thought? Love what you are doing and have loved everything I have bought from your store. Thank you in advance for even a consideration. Sincerely, Sue Daugherty
