Working Out
I am a newcomer to Title Nine. As a 60+ 38DD size bra woman who finished her first marathon at age 58, I have been looking for a supportive but fun sports bra. Last month I ordered the Marvel Underwire bra in blue and orange and the coral Ultrasonic Underwire bra. Let me tell you, the saggy girls have never been so happy. And I am not wearing a boring beige or white bra!
How is this an adventure? For Mother’s Day, we drove from Sacrasmento to Oakland and SF to buy new bikes. On the way back from SF, my husband said why don’t we stop at that store in Berkeley you wanted to go to….and get somemore of those bras! My I hate to shop man guarded the pickup with our new bikes and patiently waited outside the window at the Berkeley store while I shopped.
Next day, we rode our new bikes to Tour of California, Sacramento and I was wearing my new Breeze tee, new skirt with shorts and of course my coral Ultrasonic Underwire bra.
Imagine night time in a snowy wood illuminated by the reflection of moonbeams… Add seven high energy teenage girls on snowshoes and you have a night of laughter and adventure! Up hills, along stone walls, across what I know is swamp below – we crunch our way through the woods. A snowy owl silently glides above us, unintentionally catching our attention as it passes through the path of our headlamps. We notice multiple “deposits” on the top of the crusty snow to find only feet away a cowardly porcupine hiding head-first in the hollow of a tree. After an hour of exploring with steam rising off our bodies, we head home for freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and hot cocoa!
For Mother’s Day yesterday my family went on a bike ride on a “rail to trail” kind of path. It’s not actually on the railbed, but very nearby. My six year old daughter has been riding her bike without training wheels for maybe three weeks. This ride presented her first real hill. She pedaled and pedaled and pedaled until she made it to the top, then she let out this WHOOP kind of a joyful victorious scream. Nobody’s going to slow her down!
My last adventure was on the coast in Los Charamigos in the Dominican Republic. The location is off the tourist path, and the downhill stroll to the beach was great, however after swimming and sunning in a fairly strong break, the walk back was the work out. I can only express it as 94 stairs that were not the average height or length or width of stairs! I don’t want any more of my friends bragging about the stairs in Santa Monica California!!! These stairs were steep and dangerous!
Well, for me the danger was probably a little less because I blend with the natives until I open my mouth, I am then an immediate attraction and get the Ohh! You’re American!! 🙂
Anyway, I dropped 10 lbs while there and can’t complain about the awesome people, food and natural exercise!
My latest adventure was a hike on mother s day with my son, Trever. We ended up finding a lot of morel mushrooms. We picked for 2-3 hrs and had a couple bags.. I don t eat them but he does so he took them home to his wife and kid. It was really fun to spend the day with my son and watch how excited he got over wild mushrooms. A perfect mom s day gift.
Daily adventure wearing Title 9 clothing is going to daytime dual recovery program for bipolar illness and alcoholism. Group members love my grape colored hoodie! Further adventures include hosting open mic nights in Alice dresses and Keen thongs! Highly recommended!
My last adventure was an unexpected climb up Masada in Israel in the wee hours of the morning with my newfound friend Svenja to see the sunrise over the Dead Sea. We had a blissful time scrambling over rocky paths to the light of the moon, and listening to the happy chatter of highschoolers who were a little below us on the trail. Once we had climbed to the fortress at the top, we took up a position behind a rock wall and watched a spectacular sunrise over the salt flats and cliffs far below. Between the students softly singing and chanting, and the beautiful colors of the sky…this was easily my favorite memory of a great trip
My last adventure was on May 10, 2014, when I ran the 10 K in the Fargo, ND Marathon. I had broke my hip on June 23, 2013 while running an 8K, and did not know if I could run again after that, as the healing is quite a process. I am used to doing half marathons, but it was great to finish a 10K. The weather was terrific, and over 15,000 people had been entered in the various races that started on the bridge in Fargo. Like the song says “This is gonna be the best day of my life.”
My last adventure was a relaxing stroll with my hubby — and without my kids — through Duke Gardens in Durham, NC. BUT my last big adventure was a trip to Tempe/Chandler, Arizona with my daughter in February. It was our first mommy-daughter trip, and she loved it! The highlight was trail riding on horseback, though exploring gardens and parks and hiking were fun too.
My latest adventure was taking my four kids, 2-12 years, and our yellow lab on a bike ride. I am not sure where the greatest adventure was found; getting everyone ready and all the gear strapped and unstrapped to the rack on my van or actually being out on the trail with everyone. I would say that both were equally adventurous and laughs were had at all points of the day. After riding 4 miles we worn out and treated ourselves to freshly made burgers and fries at our local burger shack. What a perfect day!
