Ice hockey! I started at 39 with my league’s Give Hockey A Try Day–now I run Give Hockey A Try Day events for our league!
I remember girls cross country as only 3 of us and we wore the old boys track rejects. Now my daughter was captain of the cross country team, combined! No sex discrimination! No one called them boys or girls cc….. just cross country! And currently she is the Coach for the Cross Country Team. Amazing

Wow! Actually have more interests the older I get. Just turned 45 this month! 😉 Crossfit, commuter cycling, running, hiking, camping, gardening and running the mom carpool. A race here and there when I feel the urge. I will be taking much of my versatile T9 gear with me next month on a medical mission trip to Peru!
I remember playing 6 girl teams in Highschool basketball competitions. The men didn’t think girls could handle 5 girls on a team until we highlighted our strength and endurance by playing 5 against 5 in front of all the women coaches throughout the USA……they watched our demonstration game in downtown Cleveland. Yes, we can! And did play 5 man basketball. (1969)
I also remember having to buy our own jerseys and shorts AND pay for gas and our own vehicles to travel to other universities to play Volleyball. AMaxing.
And that was a Big Ten school.
Things have changed…..yea Title Nine
We should remember that Title IX was not just about sports. Title IX meant that I could take Shop instead of Home Economics. I get my game on as an engineer.
