Our make-up kit is different. That’s because we don’t use professional models. Our gals are nurses, surf instructors, teachers, moms, business owners, scientists, and everyday athletes. We shoot them doing the sports they love; often with their own boards, bikes, and backpacks. When our “models” arrive at a photo shoot they pull their hair back, slather on the sunscreen and get ready to play.
No big kits full of powders and glosses here. Our “models” are naturally beautiful because they’re outside in their element; taking risks and owning their power. And as for all that Photoshop-funny-business, well, we don’t believe in it, because beauty is more than skin deep. We wear our wrinkles, scars and scraped knees as a badge of honor.
Sunscreen, not foundation. Bandaids, not blush. Hair ties, not hair spray. Chapstick, not lipstick.
Hi Jess,
Thanks for following up. I’m actually the reason the artist/Nicole reached out to you (I told her how I found her work). 🙂 I liked the hat so much that I did a Google search of the image to find it, and ended up coming across her work. It IS AMAZING!! 🙂 I’m actually having her make a hat for me. Thanks!
That’s awesome! I’m so glad it all worked out.
Hey! Would you mind putting a link to my site for the trucker hat with the owl on it? Thank you! NKGArt.com <3
Thanks Nicole, I will share your link with the person who inquired about the hat!
Band-aids, EO organic deodorant, mini notepad by Blue Q, a Mygrastick (natural migraine medicine), small hairbrush and a cool watch my son gave me!
Lip balm is a must! Usually it’s Burts Bees. Tea Tree oil for those peri-menopause acne breakouts-oh joy, acne WITH my wrinkles, haha! And an on-the-spot concealer for the aforementioned problem.
Zinc and titanium sunscreen-no chemicals! A water bottle and small emergency leash for my chocolate lab who goes everywhere with me!
I like to trail run so my makeup kit includes: spf lip balm, sunscreen, electrolyte drink tablets, sunglasses, a snack and Simple face wipes for the mud & sweat 🙂
Ocean Potion FACES, clear zinc oxide. It can be hard to find. I’m very fair, and this is a life saver. I’ve tried just about everything. I never go anywhere without it, skiing, ocean surfing, hiking, just everywhere.
Thanks for the pro tip. We may need to add this to our makeup kit!
I want the purple/magenta trucker hat with the owl pic on it (on model). Are/will you be selling it? What brand is it?
We do too! Isn’t it cute? Unfortunately, we aren’t carrying that exact trucker hat right now, but we have a few other ones on our site. Take a look at the Coastal Trucker: https://www.titlenine.com/product/coastal-womens-trucker-hat-713387.do
Alicia, you can find the trucker hat like Caitlin is wearing at the artist’s website: https://www.nkgart.com/collections/trucker-hats. She’s got some great pieces. We love her work!
I’m a busy working outdoors mom – my makeup kit is often shared with a toddler and infant! It includes hair ties, a sunscreen stick, chapstick, peppermint oil roll-on, breastfeeding pads and baby wipes. (I don’t ever leave without baby wipes!)
Yes! You can’t have too many breastfeeding pads (or baby wipes). We are with you on all of these!
I’m a biologist and do fieldwork in arctic Alaska every summer. My makeup kit includes chemical handwarmers, mosquito repellent, bandaids, Dermatone for windburn, and extra wool socks!
Wool socks are key I imagine!
My makeup kit includes a baseball cap, water bottle, and flip flops (for beach days in Northern Michigan!) my other kit (I show Arabian horses!) includes a baseball cap, water bottle, riding boots and spurs….
Spurs! A key component of any good makeup kit. So awesome Anni!
