Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).

I live in the land of corn and beans with out a wave to be seen. We take an annual surf trip because my farm boy can also surf. Having a board of my own would allow me to practice paddling around these flat lake in Illinois so when I get the chance to ride a wave I might just be able to pop up and catch it. Plus, I would share this thing called a board with all the other land locked kids so they could see what the rest of the world is experiencing.
I am a midwestern girl-grew up on a farm. Clearly no need for a surfboard here. My primary joys have revolved around the smell of fresh tilled earth in the spring, the beauty of wheat in all of its golden splendor, and the feeling that we are connected to the earth.
Today is my birthday. I’ve seen the rainforest, lived in New York City, got my PhD, and just two months ago gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. So my life has already been fantastic in ways some people never dream of…but…maybe someday I could try being salt-kissed by the ocean. Maybe I could teach my little girl that women do amazing things throughout their lives. The secret is to be ever enthusiastic about all of the possiblities life has to offer-from the farm to the sea.
Summer begins with a month long adventure commemorating the 100- year anniversary of the first woman’s drive across the US. Our chariot is 1909 Maxwell and we will be fundraising for Women for Women International.
7 days after this once in a lifetime experience, I trade in my driving cap for work gloves and travel the country to produce all 15 Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day walks.
After spending the next six months traveling and giving back to women’s causes I would love to accompany this board to Mexico- relax, surf and find an inspiring 2010 mission.

Only a true Washington surfer suits up year round to paddle into the frigid waters of the Puget Sound. Surface temperatures range from 40-60 degrees Fahrenheit. The waves usually aren’t all that spectacular but a trip to the coast is always an adventure. I have been planning a trip to South America and with this board I could narrow down my destinations to where I could rock this sustainable board. My hope is to become fluent in Spanish so I can provide services to more people as a social worker.
Women have come a long way since 6/23/72 when Title IX was enacted to prevent discrimination. Now 35+ years later we face issues of climate change. The surf board to me represents an opportunity for women to focus on another cause and the surfboard represents a challenge for all to support environmental issues. Especially as this board is made in Hawaii, we should focus on supporting the complete elimination of whale hunting aka “research” by Japan. This surfboard represents a clean, wonderful world and if I received this surf board if would “pay it forward” by donating the value to Hawaii Turtle conservation efforts and the Sea Sheppard.
I’m an oncology nurse that’s been privilege to precious moments in a person’s life. Whether it’s a new diagnosis, a joyful remission, or poor prognosis, I’ve realized those moments, and for it, celebrated and suffered with patients and families.
I moved west to ride the mountains, and am happy to report it’s still my number one pursuit. But I’m ready for a ride where the rip moves! I recently booked a surfing trip to Costa Rica and would love to ride a board to honor my patients. Living dreams and following every passion! I’ve truly learned it from them.

Water is my life. In it, on it, near it. Given my name with the waters of Panther Pond, Maine. Learned joy growing up on the beaches of Florida. Higher education beside chilly Lake Michigan. In the Bahamas, I came home to salt water, received solace and peace, and realized I had to be close. Lived upon the ocean for 13 years as boat chef, mate, captain. Dove, rafted, sailed, loved. Puget Sound sustains me now. I water the gardens that I tend for a living, and dream of surf camp. My life is water.
