Because we get so many questions about our “models,” I thought I’d share some of our guidelines:
Rule #1: If you’ve always wanted to be a model, you can’t model for us. We only use gals with real bodies — no additives or preservatives.
Our “models” have real jobs or consuming passions. Since we spend a LOT of time with our “models,” they’ve gotta be interesting and interested, someone with whom we’d want to spend a lot of time.
And always, unselfconsciously confident.
In the end, our “models” are regular women, leading regular lives, lives not so very different from our own.
Missy Park, Founder
Missy,
My wife (27 years) Janet is a model, wife, mother, occupational therapist (managing 50 to 60 rehab staff 95+% employee satisfaction) and beautiful from the inside out. Title nine would love her; she sure loves Title Nine. She turns 50 this month and I know where to find her B-day gift, T9. Janet loves to mtn. bike, backpack (2009, climb, river raft, avid P90Xer, runner, active fund raiser for charities and… you’ll just have to meet her. Janet would never submit here name – humble, gentle, caring and sweet. Let me know If you would like a current picture. Have a great day! Dan
I love the above explanation or your role models, and I so appreciate this about your catalog and your products! They are for real, active, adventurous women! I am a huge fan!! I love the look of all your role models, and I enjoy the little personal notes 🙂
Can I just say thank you very much for your real people models-though they look better than real to me! This has bumped Title Nine into first place for me over one of your competitors who was recently bought by a huge corp and now uses unreal airbrushed to perfection young women as models in poses of athletic events you know they have NEVER done in their life! I particularly appreciate and identify with your models over 35-I know some rock hard athletic women over 50 who can out run, ski, ride and swim me at 44! Seeing some of them in the catalogue would be super role models-of what we have to look forward too-not long for what we used to be and have you ever considered using physically challenged people? they are some of my real heroes!
Have you ever considered putting in a store in Spokane WA or Coeurd’Alene, ID? I’d love it! Miss Alice
Regarding your super role models,
As a woman nearly done with a PhD in molecular biology, with marathons, triathalons, many years of surfing and rock climbing under my belt, a horse a donkey and two dogs who are my companions through all my adventures, I recognize that we want to purchase our favorite clothes from a company that is sympathetic to our lifestyles.
I have to tell you that when I read the sort of braggy stories in the catalogs of the models and their lives, I think to myself, well of course women who purchase from this catalog have lives like that. I wonder if the company is working too hard and therefore are they actually sort of ‘poser-ish’ to feel compelled to tell these stories. Why feel compelled? And if you are compelled, why not go find other women around the country who would LOVE to wear your clothes and would be happy to pose for some pictures while sailing or surfing or hanging out with her horse.
I cannot put my finger on exactly what it is that rubs me wrong with the stories you print. Perhaps it is because I too live a life exactly like that and no one has ever offered to provide me with a closet full of clothes and meet me at the ocean for a photo shoot. Maybe it is because I live in Wyoming. Regardless of the little ‘bios’ throughout the catalog, keep the awesome clothes coming!
It must be a theme – I’m 52, in good shape (but not “in my 20’s shape”), work out regularly & love your catalog because we get glimpses into the real lives of your models. I too would love to model for you, but more than that, would love to recommend someone who fits your profile to a “t” (or tee – whichever the case may be!)
How do you get to be a model (or apply to be one)?
hey there- I also am 52. I’m healthy, strong and vigorous. i hope to livE to 100! It would be great to see some real women in your catalog; real women with real bodies. A life of outdoor activity does not guarantee a flat tummy, slender arms, and muscular thigghs. I think you ladies are missing the boat o n a whole section of the population that has money to spend on fun cloths. YOU CAN DO BETTER!
Dear Missy and Title 9,
I’d have to agree that representing the older division would be just fabulous. I’ve always been an outdoors person hiking biking gardening building etc… I am fortunate enough to live in Northern CA foothills. so I almost never have bad weather which slows down the outdoors type. I’d love to model for you as I wear your cloths ALL the time and they are SOO comfortable. Thank you
Chris
Hi…LOVE YOUR CLOTHES and have purchased many. My sister and her family who also wear your clothes and shop from your catalogs and stores. She is the one who introduced me to your clothing line.
SHE NEEDS TO BE ONE OF YOUR MODELS AS SHE REPRESENTS EVERYTHING YOUR ABOUT…A TRUE LIFE PERSON WITH PASSION, A JOB, A FAMILY AND VERY ATHLETIC !!! CONTACT ME FOR A GREAT INSPIRING LEAD…:)))
In health,
d.~
I’m in with the other women’s comments. How about using some “real bodies” over 50? I’m 51, and admittedly spend much more time coaching and spectating than competing myself, but I still need and enjoy to work out most days. Adapting to a reconstructed knee and the usual over-50 change in athletic ability is hard enough…it would really help if your catalog showed some “more experienced” athletes to relate to.
